NEWS 2019

Our Ceilidh on 29/11/19 was a big success and we raised just over 1000.  Big thanks to everyone who came and to Andy Mortimer and his band for providing the music free of charge and to Grant Rowney for covering the catering costs. It was a fun event!
The generosity of everyone in the Vale is amazing and we raised 1460 at our yearly bag pack at the Co-op on Christmas Eve. It will go towards the refurbishment of our changing facilities at the club. Thank's to all the volunteers!!

Our annual Ceilidh will be on Friday 29th November at the Vale of Leven Golf Club. Members and non members are very welcome! Tickets are 10.00 and include a life band and a Buffet. Tickets are available from Sandra, David, Joanne, Nick and George!
We are also looking for raffle prices for the event. Please leave your donations in the clubhouse.
Hopefully we will have a full house to dance and celebrate what has been a great year for the club!

Refurbishment of the Club House Update: April - August 2019
The roof has been stripped of most of the old felt and new felt put on to seal it. In the Gym area everything has been stripped to the plaster or bricks, we got new windows (thank you Sandra for donating them), the re-wirering is complete, we got new doors - including the fire door, the radiators are fixed to the wall and it already had a coat of paint! All inside ceilings have been taken down. We are still fundraising to have enough money to get the changing rooms and toilets refurbished. It's going to be lovely when done!

Loch Lomond Rowing Club had a brilliant weekend with Peter Haining - 3 times World Sculling Champion.
Thanks to Peter Haining who came to the club last weekend 6/7th April to spend some time with our members. It was great to see the intense effort and enjoyment of all the participants, even though Peter was putting everyone through their paces. It was a terrific weekend and everyone went away learning something new!
Huge thanks to Sandra, with the help of George and Graeme for organising the weekend and to David for putting Peter up in his home, also to Joanne for providing hot rolls and home baking both days, and to Ashley providing the great photographs.

trainingWe have moved all our ergos and weights to a unit at Lomond Galleries, so we can strip and refurbish and re-roof our club and make it water tight. Hopefully it will only be a year before we can move back. All our boats are still at the club and we still boat from our usual place.trainingtraining

Advanced notice of a fabulous opportunity for all LLRC members.

Sandra has managed to persuade  Peter Haining, 3 times World Sculling Champion and a former Loch Lomond Rowing member, to agree to come back along to Loch Lomond on the weekend of Sat 6th and Sunday 7th of April and do a training weekend for us. Peter is based in London and coaches Olympic rowers but has kindly agreed to spend a weekend back at his first club offering coaching sessions both on the land and on the water for adults and juniors alike.

The cost of the Coaching sessions would be 30 for one day only or 50 for the weekend. More details will be sent out about the format of the weekend and what you can expect to happen.  E- Mail secretary@lochlomondrowingclub.co.uk  back if you are interested in one or both days.
