Sandra has managed to persuade Peter Haining, 3 times World Sculling
Champion and a former Loch Lomond Rowing member, to agree to come back along to
Loch Lomond on the weekend of Sat 6th and Sunday 7th of April and do a training
weekend for us. Peter is based in London and coaches Olympic rowers but has
kindly agreed to spend a weekend back at his first club offering coaching
sessions both on the land and on the water for adults and juniors alike.
The cost of the Coaching sessions
would be £30 for one day only or £50 for the weekend. More details will be sent
out about the format of the weekend and what you can expect to happen. E- Mail email@example.com back if you are interested in one or both
Thanks to Sandra's husband, Jim, for restoring our club shield! It looks like new now - another bit of history saved!

nothing, but if you purchase online and go through easyfundraising a
percentage of your purchase automatically goes to Club funds. The %
depends on the company but does add up, especially at this time of
year. Click on the link below to set up. It is really quick and easy,

|A little bit of history found at the weir on the river Leven by Loch Lomond Rowing Club Members.|
lifesaver ring has the name Skylark IX on it, which was one of the
small boats that rescued many from Dunkirk and LLRC handed it over to
the Skylark IX Trust.|
Mary Burch, secretary of the trust, said: "We are delighted. It will be wonderful to get it on display."
|In 1940 The Skylark IX and her crew headed to the beaches of Dunkirk
during Operation Dynamo and made numerous round trips between May 27
and June 4. The crew battled against conditions which saw 236 Allied vessels sunk
and their courageous actions saved 600 stranded troops from the
beaches, where they were being attacked and shelled by the invading
German army. After surviving the war against the
odds the 50ft cruiser resumed her civilian duties but fell into
disrepair before sinking. It had been submerged in the River Leven at
Balloch but in 2013 the
Skylark IX Recovery Trust was formed to restore the boat, now being
stored by the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine, to its former glory.|
Substitutions for races, now need to be done in writing.
Everyone within the boat (from the same club) should wear the same kit.
Please check your boats (heel restrains, bow balls, hatches etc) before boating / racing.
